Light switch Is there any place to buy a replacement fiber washer piece that the brass contact is attached to inside the light switch?

Re: Light switch Not fiber but rather a "pressboard" which time and exposure to water is likely "disintegrated." I have a couple of switches with the same delamination.
A "recreation" of the component in plastic or lexan may be your only option. This actually would be a good project for 3D printing, but it would be done best using the original manufacturer drawings (these may not be FORD drawings.) And the repop switches are soo poor, they're almost not worth talking about. Both switches AND the round "switch base" attached to the harness. Joe K |
Re: Light switch Check with Sacramento Vintage. They build their own wiring harnesses for the Model A and may be able to assist you.

Re: Light switch The description is somewhat vague. Is the OP describing the insulator for the brass contactor ring that is turned by the light switch spider or is it something else? If it is this part then it is made of Micarta such as used for circuit boards.
There are four different types of light switch as well so a person has to be specific or post a photo. This link has a photo of all four types. https://www.mafca.com/downloads/Semi...ex%20Janke.pdf |
Re: Light switch 4 Attachment(s)
Interesting this came up... I had the same issue a few weeks ago. I had a short in my headlight bucket, burnt up the harness and the light switch. Due to the poor quality and expense of a reproduction light switch, I recreated the washer/ insulator.
I drew it on Solidworks and 3D printed it. Didn't come out perfect but with come slight modification, it worked! The switch is installed in the car and working. If you would like the CAD model or for me to send you one, send me a PM. |

even more interesting... i am playing around with a 3D printer at the moment and am just waiting for an excuse to print something for a Model A. I use Autodesk Inventor but that shouldn't be a problem. So if anybody in germany needs one of these parts 3d printed and DJ sends me the files, i will be happily printing them and sending them off... |

I have a 15 amp circuit breaker in the wire from the alternator to the light switch. |
