Re: Ford Clutch

49-53 Fords used a 9 1/2" clutch (I think) and a different spline in the disc. The most commonly used clutch is the earlier 9" version, used in the late 30's and early 40's. Ford tractor clutches will interchange with these but don't have centfifugal weights that help grip at higher RPM's, not critical in stock A's. Some guys have been recently going to diaphragm clutches, mostly from Ford Ranger pickups, they are much smoother, and rarely, if ever, chatter. All require machining the wheel flat and drilling the proper bolt pattern on it.

Re: Ford Clutch

Thanks Alot. I have a new in the box clutch I bought for a 49 shoebox I have but never installed it. I am now putting together a RUSTY 29 CC Pickup and am going to leave it rusty and thought I would use the clutch if it would fit but I will just buy the right one and be done with it. Thanks Again!!!
