40 Ford Hi Flow Thermostats I have a 1940 Ford Conv 221 85 hp.
I had Skip rebuild my water pumps and they are working fine. Now I need hi flow 180 degree thermostats, I have not found them. I will say thank you in advance if anyone can tell me where I can purchase or order these parts. A part number would help also. |
Re: 40 Ford Hi Flow Thermostats Do you have the regular thermostat? I'd recommend checking the dimensions versus this speedway one. It might work, good luck!

Re: 40 Ford Hi Flow Thermostats Unless you live in a cold climate, thermostats are mostly unnecessary. While designed to help engine warmup. they do provide some coolant pressure in the block to minimize "hot spots" in recesses in the block casting. More people run without stats that those who do. The faster the coolant can be circulated, the more efficient the cooling.

stats available. They have large flow openings and fit in the upper hoses. These are the only ones Skip recommends with his pumps. Why by hi flow pumps and restrict the flow with the stats from a parts store G.M. |
Re: 40 Ford Hi Flow Thermostats Thank you to all who responded to my post.
I live in NY so I need thermostats to warm up things. I will contact Bob Sherman. |
Re: 40 Ford Hi Flow Thermostats Sorry if this is hijacking the thread. I went for a drive today, about 70-75°. My temp gauge shows 160°. I don't know if I have thermostats or not (stock 39). Seems to be running great!

Re: 40 Ford Hi Flow Thermostats If you are considering Shewman stats you should review this real life test of them vs. Stant stats: https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showt...hlight=shewman
