Drive In Grease Fittings

I decided to change all of my grease fittings over to the modern style. There was a mix of original and modern on the car. I am having trouble with the new drive in fittings. I am trying to drive them in with a small socket on an extension and a hammer. They won't seem to go. Do I need to enlarge the holes a bit or just use a bigger hammer? Anyone else run into this?

There's a special tool to drive in those fittings.

You really do need the tool it works a treat .Do not enlarge any holes the fittings will most likely fall out after a while .

Sorry I'am to far away! Get the tool that's made for driving them in, DONT drill the holes larger, I've made the fittings smaller.

I bought that tool. I don’t see where it helps much, or at all. The tool works about the same as pounding on a small socket that has a socket extension inserted into it. The replacement zerks appear to be too big for some of the holes (not all of the holes) that are already drilled in the car. The threaded zerks in the zerk kit that I bought from one of the vendors work fine.

I bought some drive in modern fittings and they were way too large for my 30 Tudor. The ones I previously installed just took a straight in couple of taps. These I couldnt get started.
