I use a MAC and when I open a picture, it opens in Preview. I save a copy of it an then I go to the TOOLS icon at the top and select ADJUST SiZE. I adjust either the width or the height (whichever is larger) to 800 pixels and save it.

I used "PAINT" when I had Windows 7; now I have Windows 10 with something called "PAINT-3D" and can't figure it out any more. (I think it's because I don't want to; why do they change a perfectly good product into something more complicated that's barely usable by ordinary folks?)

Windows paint can be found in Windows 'accessories'.

Sizing can be done using 'PAINT-3D' also.

When you develop something like software as far as it can logically go, there is nothing left to do except make it so complex that it's no longer user friendly. It's the new corporate way.

Tub my win 10 still has paint same as Win 7.

I didn't like Win10 until I figured out I could configure it the same as earlier versions!

I use PhotoScape and Windows 10. It's free and works well for resizing and cropping.

Resizing Pictures is simple. If I see a Picture that I want to add to Ford Barn, I Highlight the Picture on my right screen, then hit email. I Box will appear that gives me 5 different sizes to chose from. The middle one is headed up Medium (1024 x 768), next up is Large (1280 x 1224) followed by Original Size. Below Medium we have Small (800 x 600) and the smallest called Smaller (640 x 480).
Now I know that Original Size was way too large a picture to add to Ford Barn, so I click onto Large and hit Attach. A new email will appear with the Picture that I want shown as an Attachment, at the top right of this new email. Having two screens is a real bonus. I open up Ford Barn, and simply drag that Attachment from my new email to the Ford Barn "Manage Attachments" Window and that is all there is to it. I then simply delete this email without sending it. Works perfectly every time for me. Having said that, all my Photos are stored in an External Hard Drive, which are displayed on my second screen.

With regards to 36rgtop's question, this is the result of how I described selecting the correct size pictures and adding them in my earlier instructions, ending with a small picture.
Making pictures larger is a whole new set of steps, but the larger pictures are much easier to view.

Hi,

I posted about using paint a few months ago, https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showp...5&postcount=20

but I just tried something in Windows.

- right mouse click on the picture on your computer
- Select "Edit"
- Microsoft "Paint" opens
- select the "Resize'' button
- Select "Pixels"

- put in 800 in top box
- Check off "retain aspect ratio" Attached Thumbnails

So first find your picture, if you can't do that disregard everything below :-)

- Right mouse click and you will see "Paint 3D" and "Edit"
Edit will open up "Paint" and is easier if you're just going to make the picture smaller but Paint 3D is useful to crop too.

- For the edit in Paint follow 51 Merc's instructions or mine above.
For Paint 3D there are more steps so not as good in my opinion.

- Now select crop and you'll see a place to resize your picture. Just change the horizontal to 800 or less and with the "keep aspect ratio", the vertical will change automatically

- Now "Save as" with your smaller picture.

Photoscape will also batch resize, highlight a bunch of photos and boom they are all resized.
