Bumper Clamps

Good Evening,

I need to purchase a full set of bumper clamps for my '30 coupe. (New bumpers will come later when the budget permits.) Does anyone have a recommendation or opinion on solid stainless steel versus stainless clad?
Any advice on a supplier?

Thanks, Mike

Re: Bumper Clamps

Mike, It depends I guess, how authentic you want your coupe to be. The early '30 Fords still used the chrome plated, forged type clamps, similar to the late '28 and the '29's,but later that year, ford switched to the stainless steel covers over the clamp. Some of the covered type were chrome plated brass also, but they used the crimped on type 'till the end of production with the little blue insert areas as I'm sure you're familiar with. All clamping hardware, the backing bracket, lock washer and nut were black enamel. Try A& L Parts. Best regards, Pete.

Lets see... Cheap way $19.00 EACH,,$76.00 + shipping [Bratton's] "NOT CAST" """STEEL""' Chrome plate ... recessed painted... Stainless steel clamps $31.35 EACH.. $124.70 + shipping....for early 1930 "A's" before May..Stainless Steel clamps we bead blast the recessed area to hold paint better. Later 1930 "A's are stainless steel covered $11.30 each ..$45.20 +shipping and again we bead blast the recessed area to hold paint better. We do that with originals ... So there you go Mike ...I'll try A+L Parts since he makes them and you living in Conn. you might be able to drive there... Good luck ..i have original S/S ones but they are for Fine point judging and well about the repro. prices.
