A&L Parts. still in business? Is A&L still in business? I cant find a # that works.
|
Re: A&L Parts. still in business? Yes A&L is still in business, but due to Covid-19 and other things A&L only sells wholesale to the Vendors no more retail sales.
As I remember no online sales either. Bert's Model a Center sells their parts. |
Re: A&L Parts. still in business? I am pretty sure Snyder's does too.

On a side note I always thought it would be nice if the vendors stated who manufactured the parts they sell. Something like Summit Racing says Holley, or Coker or Ford made the part. Then we could decide if we wanted to buy that part or look elsewhere. There are a few I try to avoid. |
Re: A&L Parts. still in business? So, are the script coils available again? Schrader valve stems??
|
Re: A&L Parts. still in business? Script coils are not available at this time. The company Ahooga that made them went out of business, and last I knew the tooling was obsolete to most modern presses.
Schrader stems are hit and miss with most vendors. |
Re: A&L Parts. still in business? Some parts suppliers do not want that information published. Not because they are hiding, but because they are small one man operations that are not set up for direct sales, usually making the parts in batches as order comes in. Not every parts supplier is a big company. Some that do advertise, sell the parts retail or close to it so are not competing with their bread and butter, filling orders to the parts wholesale suppliers like Snyder's. Made in USA or China etc, that is different.

Re: A&L Parts. still in business? It’s also trade secrets. If Snyder finds a guy who can do a run of parts for him at the same quality but half the price of the guy who supplies the other big four, why share that information?

Also if I see that a part a vendor offers made by say X Brand that I know has a rep for being junk, I won't buy it. I see this as a service to the customers. |
Re: A&L Parts. still in business? I bought a lot of items from A&L and all were very good quality . I think the owners decided it was a better business plan to wholesale to many of the bigger suppliers rather than try to compete as a major supplier . They have always manufactured much of the items that they sold . Many of their parts were put on fine point cars and received full points so that shows the quality . They will probably do better as a manufacture of quality parts than a retailer ? I wish them well in their new venture .

Re: A&L Parts. still in business? Al, the founder has been gone now for about 20 years. His son ran the business in CT I think until COVID hit, or slightly before. He has moved and no longer sells retail, but still supplies Vendors as has been stated.
They did stock quite a few parts, and never sold anything they felt was inferior. They are best known for their horns and roadster windshield stanchions. |

Time flies when you get older but Al died July 26, 2010 |
Re: A&L Parts. still in business? I was about 20 miles from them, he'd let me wander the building.
