‘35 Panel delivery, is this a stock weld?

I have an opportunity to buy this 35 panel. Same owner since 1970, last ran 3 years ago. Totally solid bones, the only thing I saw was this weld, which was on both sides, in the same spot, see circled area.

Any idea of value? Any input appreciated, looks like a fun project to clean up, just get it running safely and leave as is. 831-238-8235

Sweet $9500-$12500 would be my value.

without seeing the weld in person its hard to tell but if it looks reasonably smooth and uniform it should be ok really need to see underside to tell [penatration] having said that from what i can see from image it should massage out without a problem

A friend of mine in the USA owns this 1936 Ford Panel Truck, and as you can see, it has a similar weld on the roof above the doors. I know that the Panel Truck is larger than the Panel Delivery you are looking at, but the welds look similar. Hope that this helps.

That is a very neat looking 1935 Ford Panel Delivery that you are on to.

On a 33/34 car, the roof was not one stamping. The front cowl ended about where your weld is. But on the 33, it was leaded together. Looks like on the 35 they went to welding the front and back together.

This is a couple of pictures of Don Rogers fine looking 36 panel.....it shows no such weld.....exposed anyway. Maybe he will chime in here and verify IF its just a 35 only thing OR if they smoothed some welds but not all.....I can't imagine the latter BUT what do I know????

Digger, The seam is factory. Here's a few photos of the inside of my 35 panel delivery showing the seam very clearly. Trim and headliner covered it nicely. The outside was leaded over making the seam invisible after primer and finish enamel.

Re: ‘35 Panel delivery, is this a stock weld?

Budd was about the only company in the early years that could press out a one piece roof but Ford only used them if there was no cheaper way to go. Ford could make a lot of the smaller stampings since there was no solid roof yet. For the larger panel trucks it saved a lot of woodwork to have Budd make them a solid roof.

The 35 & 36 pickups are hard to find in good condition and that makes the panel trucks even harder to find. That one looks to be mostly all there which is a rare bear now days.

THAT is neat it will make a sweet car restored. Looks very solid. I love the early V-8 panel trucks and Delivery Cars. Sorry I don't really know the answer to your question.

Thanks for the pictures and please keep them coming as you progress with this car, hopefully you buy it and keep it original:):):)

So got it towed to my house today, great delivery! I washed it, vacuumed it out, cleans up well. Engine turns fine, its battery was weak so Will try to get it running tomorrow after work. I will be doing some more clean up, etc and will be listing it for sale in a week or two. Stay tuned or contact me with questions
