NOS front brake drums While going through my stash of parts I found some NOS front brake drums. One 36-39 wide 5, and two what I believe to be 40-48, I'm not exactly sure, they are up on the top of the office ceiling and I can't really see them clearly without taking them down, and I need help to do that. It's tough to get old. I know they're hen's teeth, but what is a ballpark value by the each. Thanks for the help fellows. I appreciate it. Sorry I can't post pictures.

Your wide-five drum may bring more than the '42-'48 since there have not been an reproductions on this piece I believe. The game has changed a bit with Bolling Bros. US-made drums, but these are all cast steel and not the pressed steel centers welded to cast "rims" like Ford and, therefore, much heavier. |
Re: NOS front brake drums Just a heads up .Wide 5, 36 fronts are different than 37-39.Will not interchange

Re: NOS front brake drums My wide 5 is ribbed like the one on the left. That's 36 isn't it? Thanks.

Re: NOS front brake drums Yes '36

Re: NOS front brake drums Note how LONG the snout is for the outer bearing on the '36. DD

Re: NOS front brake drums Some 1937's are ribbed, so the only way to tell is look and measure. .. So, just because they are ribbed does not make them 36's. The 36's seem to be around in NOS form... Just last week I was scrounging on my brake drum shelves and found I had 5 NOS 36's but only used on the 37-39's ... bummer..

Re: NOS front brake drums In 1937 The front spindles changed hence the shorter drum in 1937.
