Replacing fuel shut off problem Hey guys! I am tryin to remove my fuel shut off valve on a 29 Tudor. It is very hard to turn the valve when tryin to remove it, and it has me second guessing the direction for removal. Any ideas/trick of the trade would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Replacing fuel shut off problem It’s a pipe thread, it should come out without breaking anything. Good luck.

Re: Replacing fuel shut off problem Thanks. That’s what I was doing, of course. Just super tight.

Re: Replacing fuel shut off problem Sometimes a shot of WD-40 or such helps.

With at least one exception - certain year cars lug nuts,. I will never forget my dad getting enjoyment of me trying to get the lug nuts off a 60s car (think it was a Dodge). Was lucky I did not twist the lug bolt off. He finally told me that my car had reverse threads on one side of the car. |
Re: Replacing fuel shut off problem I have left & right hand lug nuts on the Michelin disc wheels on my wife's Model T Fire Chief's rig - I was directing my statement at the O.P.'s situation.

Re: Replacing fuel shut off problem Sorry, I meant to only add to the discussion in case others were unaware. Probably should not have quoted you and phrased my post differently.

Re: Replacing fuel shut off problem Don't forget to drain the gas out of the tank before removing the valve, also raise the RH side of the car a bit.

Re: Replacing fuel shut off problem Good Morning...Depending on the type of wrench you are using, a pipe extension will allow you to put more torque on the valve under the dash without having to hammer on it or try to jerk the wrench...steady increasing pressure will usually finally make it move...Ernie in Arizona
