Just don’t send the item until funds clear. Check, money order, PayPal, other online payment service etc. There are many trusted payment services today: PayPal, Cahapp, Zelle, just to name a few.

I personally trust the online payment more than a check or money order.

I’ve gotten several scammy things like “John Doe” and if you look deeper into the email address they are foreign. However, some are cleaver enough to setup/hijack email address that look USA

As WC Fields said, "Never smarten up a chump or give a sucker an even break." Then he sold his talking dog to a bartender.

That's all the wisdom I have for one day, no charge... Chap

I like to play along with the phone scammers and waste as much of their time as possible.

I have heard that some off shore scammers have found ways to use USA area codes and are able to have the charges reversed so you can be charged for long distance foreign calls. Don't know if true or not.

That may be true but most scammers are now targeting cell phones as the use of them has become ubiquitous. It’s not a worry for me as I carry an unlimited rate cellular plan.

I’ve actually found that the scammers hang up on me if they think I’m not for real. I guess if you spend all your time scamming people you get pretty good at identifying the live ones.
