Door striker plates for 36 coupe
 

Trying to replace my door striker plates on the 36 coupe. Got some from Mac's but they measure .750 between holes, the show a set for 32-34 that are .840 apart. could those work for my application? Thanks

The striker plate is attached to a single plate located inside the body that is movable, but has a fixed spacing for the attaching screws. Measure the distance between those holes and you will then know if the plate will fit.


You are not alone when purchasing the striker plates that are round on one end and advertised to fit a 36 Ford. I did that many years ago and found out the hard way they will not fit.

Tom, Here are images of the 2 types of striker plates used on 36 coupes. You weren't specific whether you had a 3 or 5 window coupe. I have the hole to hole dimension on one of the strikers. Also notice the other model vehicles that the strikers fit. This may help you in your search.

Tom, the part number you need is 40-702340 available from Bob Drake, it is listed by them to fit 1932-34 but the Ford zhardware and Triming Supplies book for 1928-38 lists this part number for your coup’e. I had the same problem as you which Sloop from NZ sorted me out on. Best regards Roger.
