Model A Service Manual by Victor Page

I have the 1961 version of the Ford Model A Service Manual & Owners' Handbook of Repair & Maintenance by Victor Page. I was wondering if buying the updated 1973 version hardcover titled Model A Ford Construction Operation Repair for the Restorer by Victor Page would be worthwhile or can I just get the additional information online from forums?:) --Franco

A lot of ideas about restoration and maintenance have changed in the last 40 years. You can get some information on the forums, but I would recommend buying more up-to-date books. The MARC-MAFCA Judging Standards and Les Andrews's Model A Ford Mechanics Handbook Vol I are both excellent must-haves for a good Model A library.

I have the 1973 book. I think that you would not gain anything by buying the 73 verson over your 1961 version. In my opinion you would be much better off buying the Les Andrews Vol 1 shop manual. It is available from most of the reproduction vendors.

The thing about the Victor Page versions is that it was printed in 1929 and gives one the perspective of the Model A/AA Ford duiring that time period.

I think, but not sure is that the second version contains another publication by Page that the first version does not.

But as the others have said above, for more up to date restoration aspects, the JS and Andrews books are well worth it plus a few others.
