Missing Body Mounts 1930 Tudor - 2 door??

4 Attachment(s)
So after the ride the other day, with all the banging while driving, I thought I'd take a look underneath to see what I could see. First the engine mounts - definitely the rubber is dry and petrified. Next I looked on the frame and on one rail I see wood go from drivers to passengers - all the way across. The next one I see a block of wood on the drivers, and one one the passenger. The third rail, I see none on either side. Could this be a "lack" of quality control from a prior restoration, and how good/bad/ugly is it to correct? I've seen some posts on the engine mounts, and it doesn't seem pretty from what I've read so I'll take that on another time. Lastly - the brake and clutch petal - should there be some rubber insulation on the back side of the board so they don't bang or rattle on the board when released or idling? Thanks in advance as always.

I've got pictures of the first, second, and two pictures of the third rails.

Re: Missing Body Mounts??

Obviously the wood you have is not right. But it depends on what type of car/truck you have as to type and number of blocks that are needed.

There definately are missing body blocks.
The pedals have stops built into them to prevent them from contacting the floor boards. Often they are worn out and need to be welded up and reshaped.

If anybody has pictures of these missing pedal stops it would be greatly appreciated.

Regarding the body blocks - how good/bad ugly would it be to install them as a complete amateur/new to the hobby?

There are no missing pedal stops, they are on the pedals and
bellhousing.

To replace the body blocks, will I need a body shop to lift the body off the frame to replace them? Will this be a "big" expense?? Does anyone here know of a shop that would do this in the Syracuse NY area?

You should be able to do it yourself. Loosen all the bolts, remove them, get a body block kit, pry up the body gently and insert block(s). Tighten. Only problem I forsee is door alignment but then you can shim the offending blocks. FWIW Others may have different ideas.

Also before lifting body remove the lower steering column bracket, fuel line off carburetor and clamp that holds ignition cable to head . You may have to jack body up about 4 inches to change out the body blocks.Same person must’ve “restored “ my car too as it was missing body blocks, rubber shims and frame welt.
