Oil pump suction?

2 Attachment(s)
Just disassembled a Mercury flathead and this is what I found when I removed the pan! Do you think the screen got plugged and the oil pump tried to pull it in? This is a engine with super low miles (19K) but appears to have had lots of short trips. No ring travel, water jackets super clean but the inside gummed up bad.

Have you determined what the stuff in the pan is?

A little water in the bottom of the pan froze?

Yep, the oil pump collapsed it due to the clogging.

That is just sludge in the bottom of the pan. I just thought it was interesting, I had never seen that before!

Do you know what kind of oil was used in this engine?

Have no idea it was in the engine when I got it and I never ran the engine.
