31 model A

I have a 31 A with hydraulic brakes. What master cylinder will I have to use if I put disk brakes on front.

You could probably keep the one you have, but I believe you may need a proportioning valve to the front. Or youu could swap to a dual chamber cyl (some use Mustang) but wiould probably still need the valve.
Was it converted with a Cling's kit or just used parts. Instead of discs you could also convert what you have to bendix style Lincoln brakes available from either Speedway or Boling Bros. FWIW

You are doing the mods, can I have your old parts that you don't need? Only a minority of Model A people have Hydraulic brakes, often done by a previous owner when v8 parts were in wrecking yards and cheap. Now they are more spendy and v8 folks need them. Our cheap (Ha Ha) parts stop pretty good. Your reproduction parts for expensive original v8 stuff can fill a catalogue including up grades like disk and caliper set ups. Sometimes the catalogues are free ours are almost always free.

Jerry, maybe ask over on the H.A.M.B. They would be more knowledgeable on "modern parts" and what fits than most of the members here.

I'd say the same about the master cylinder. If you're going to change it then I too would recommend using a duel cylinder. Either way you'll need a proportion valve.
There should be a bunch of that stuff in your local dismantling yard.

Any master cylinder will work, the bigger the cylinder the less pedal effort needed.Proportioning valve is required when you want the bias to the front..60% front 40% rear..or bias to the rear, like Ford did with the mechanical brakes, its up to you...or don't use a proportioning valve and all four wheels will have equal application pressure.
