How Should the Instrumental Panel Light Connect to the Steering Wheel Light Circuits

Since this is a separate piece of the puzzle, I thought I would start a new thread. (This thread is related to https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=279584 .)

Quick Summary:

The former owner wired the instrument panel light to each of the tail lights so that the instrument panel light would flash whenever the turn signal was in operation as a reminder to turn off the signal.

Questions:

I'd like to get the instrument panel light connection back to the way the car was manufactured.

1) Am I correct in assuming that, under the original Ford wiring, the instrument panel light only operated when the light switch on the steering wheel was activated?

2) If so, how *should* that light be connected to the steering wheel light circuits? Someone mentioned that I could connect the instrument panel light to the ammeter connection, but that would burn the light all the time, correct? That is not how the car would have been originally wired, correct?

The panel light had it's own switch and was wired to the ammeter.

This is a 1931 Victoria. This is my first Model A, and I have no idea what I’m looking for. Would it be possible to enlighten me (no pun intended)?

Is such a switch still available from Snyder’s or Bratton’s?

Would this be the whole part?

Is there a switch built into it? If so, how does the switch work?

Would I need to purchase a dash light cover too? (I really don’t know what is supposed to look like when it is period correct.)

Jonathan, the dash light you linked to is the correct one for your year. The light has a built in switch. That little arm you see sticking out of the switch just slides on or off. It wires to the backside of the amp meter that has the yellow with black tracer attached. There is notch in the above the gas gauge to feed the wire to the amp meter.

Thanks! Do I need a separate dash light cover, or is that included?

A closeup of the light:

It is mounted under the dash rail above the instrument panel as opposed to the earlier style that is mounted on the panel:

Needle in the ammeter is very hard to see.
