carburator problem

I have a zenith carburator 13922 on a 29 model A Ford town sedan that is running too rich and the engine is heating up. How do I adjust the mixture? It doesn't adjust with the choke rod like the originals. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Donald Thompson

Might have to rebuild your carb?

Too rich isn't usually associated with overheating.

The richness adjustment is that little T-valve sticking out the bottom front. Try turning it all the way in, then backing it out 1/2 a turn; that works pretty well on my '29 town sedan. You may need to give it a bit more choke on cold starts, since you've lost that warmup enrichment.

About the overheating, what else did you change besides the carb?

You might find some answers from the troubleshooting chart
at www.modela.org It's in PDF format and is an excellent reference
guide which you can copy.
