80 Engines SOLD Middletown, NJ

Hey where I live a fellow named Fitzgerald (first name Bob I think) recently died. He did motorhome repair work on Leaonardville Road in Middletown, N.J.

He had many cars but was known to collect Model A's by the bunch. I was told someone bought 80 engines from his estate. There is still a bunch of stuff on the property, but the family locked things up for right now as they had to attend to other matters. Just ASKING....anyone here know about this?

Ronn, I would if they were one, two, three or four digit engines from early production.

There was a man that live near me named Llloyd. He'd but estate stuff like that too. However, Lloyd would always tell the caller if I but the ot I but everything, and if you wanna start picking pieces out of it I am not interested in a deal.

The guy that used to do my babbit had 600 engines at one time.He had A's when he was young, and just started picking engines up whenever they popped up.The scrap guys knew him,and they would drop them off.50 years worth of saving them.He had a big barn, may have been a chicken house where he kept them.He got a kick out of sending people down to the road to that barn,he'd tell them to look around and see if there were any engines in there. It was always a shock to open that door and see that sea of engines.I have no idea what became of them after he died.

That nearly makes me cry. I was recently looking for an engine to rebuild but gave up. There were none to be had and I've not heard of one for a long time now. It's a very different scene over there, obviously.

If You're still chasing one or five, I have a small collection, around thirty, contact me. I never thought that they would be worth advertising.

I suspect more correctly stated, 'An estate collection of Model A parts was recently sold which included 80 engines'.

In this case it was sold at a 'take it all' price. The real kicker was that the engines in question where stored in a basement!

Maybe Bert's got them, or some other engine shop.

Sold locally in NJ. I doubt Bert's would have paid to ship that many boat anchors to Denver.

Dave, Thanks for the offer but I have made other arrangements now. I bought the bits I need from a friend in the US but I still may be in touch. I have a couple of axles on the way from there but more than 10 months after they went into a container, I'm still waiting, Those engine parts are not looking any better. I use two shipping companies and both are saying that the US is in a state of disarray and struggling to get back to some form of normalcy after the virus was allowed to run pretty much unchecked. I am hopeful they will get things sorted soon.
If my fears are born out and the parts do disappear into the same void as the axles, I'll be in touch.
