Re: Veterans Day Drove our 46 in the Veteran's day parade. 24 degrees and very windy. Hot water heater kept us warm. Naturally, the engine temp barely went to 150. I went into the Army 61 years ago at age 17.
I always am curious why most of the Vets that show up at these events are old timers (Korean and Vietnam). The vets from the last 30 years went thru such horrific times and are all heroes and hope they join us. John |

Re: Veterans Day I want to thank all my buddies that served, I left Cua Viet Vietnam in August of 1969 and was glad to get home. It is sad we have lost so many over the years.
HAPPY VETERANS DAY. BILL WELLS EM2 USS DYNAMIC MSO 432 |
Re: Veterans Day semper fi
thanks to all for your service. it is so hard to take that we did what we did so everyone could have the freedom to express their feelings, saluting or taking the knee. that is so sad |
Re: Veterans Day Hi; Those Iraq 1 +2 Vets are all busy with Jobs and families, I had some as apprentices. Worse there were no beers/ entertainments in those wars. We had both in Asia. Newc

Re: Veterans Day 1 Attachment(s)
Here in Canada its known as Remembrance day. There is always a good crowd for the Legion's ceremony in our little village. Each year the list of deceased veterans and legion members gets a little longer.
I thought this shot of my dad (Les Goff at left) standing in front of a 40? Ford woody wagon was worth re-posting here. Taken during training in Canada 1941. Probably Camp Shilo, Manitoba. |
Re: Veterans Day Great picture RalphG!
Brings to mind that song by Jamie Johnson “should have see it in color” It was almost 40 years ago when I joined the Army. Back then Army was a four letter word. |
Re: Veterans Day Many thanks to our vets.

Re: Veterans Day It was "Armistice Day" back when I was a kid.
The "War to end all wars" Guess the human race screwed that up! I served voluntarily during the Vietnam thing. In the Med. Thank heavens. Figured better volunteer for sea duty rather than draft foxholes. Lost classmates. And neighbors. That "event' was a worst screwup than Korea. IMHO. But it was fought by a cross-section of American young men, because of the draft. And we are united by that, as were those who gave their all in WW2 and Korea. We can hold our heads up when the pols take positions. And deferments for bone spurs. |
Re: Veterans Day Thank you to all that served and God bless. Craig

Re: Veterans Day Can't remember too whom to credit this, " Koran Vets went to serve on a Friday came home and back to work on a Monday, little fanfare". I might add, Korea Three years over 50 thousands causalities, compare Vietnam Ten years over 60 thousands lost. Quite a difference in loss ratio. I am so fortunate to have come home, so many of my friends didn't, they are the heros. Anyway that is what I think of when greeted with" Thank you for your service".
