Time for new tires

Pretty much got the life out of these old shoes.

Any thoughts about using 5.50 x 16 tires instead of 600 x 16s so they fit in the fender wells better?

Re: Time for new tires

I would run the 5.50's on the front and 6.50's on the back.

I would say you got maximum use out of those tires......

Wow, you can almost see the air in that one.

What type of wheels, and what size tires are on there now? Not sure why you feel 600 x16's wouldn't fit fender wells on a vehicle that probably had 18" tires to begin with, ... unless maybe something has been modified that's not apparent in your photos.

If you ran over a piece od chewing gum you could tell what flavor it is.

If those are the tires, how are the brakes?

John,

I am thinking the same way as Rich for my '31 RDPU where I intend to run 16 inch Kelsey wheels. The problem is that the 600x16's are slightly too wide meaning you have to let the air out to get them in the fender well. Of course I also carry a tire pump to inflate them if needed.

Hey Walt, would that tire be known as a "down east Knobby " for winter travel ?

I run 5.50 on the front of my 33 pickup with 16" wheels but it has a dropped axle under it (shhhhhh...)

No Test, GB. I just think they look really good with those narrow 16" Ford wheels. DD

Re: Time for new tires

As Charlie says, 6.00 x 16 tires don't fit properly into fender wells designed to accommodate a 5.25 x18 tire.

Rich,

They will be, after all, spare tires, so what's the harm in 5.50s (which may still be a tight fit depending on the make of the tire).
