1936 Ford Model 62
 

Hi,
I am just on the better side of a 4 year restoration on my 1936 Ford Model 62. I am unable to find some key parts for the car like the bonnet mascot for it, I was wondering if anyone on here would have one for the car.

I have tried to post a photo but it won't allow me to, its not the same as the US model, its an english designed one and I am unsure if it shares the mascot of another US car

"IF" the model 62 you speak of is the Matford style grill and the headlights in buckets, not in the fenders.....It would be a tough go of finding the "correct" hood ornament on this side of "the pond". I believe that the ornament you are looking for is that of the "winged" variety and the only one I know of here in the US that looks similar was offer as an accessory ornament for 1937 and are somewhat difficult to find!!! My dad has one for our 37 Station Wagon, maybe one of our 37 Guru's here on the barn has a picture more handy that they could post.

Tom, Sure would be nice to see a pic.If its the Matford ,it was sold here in France.I'm going to a big swap on Sat and maybe can find one for you.Does it look like this? The bumpers and guards appear to be the same as USA models.

Here is a brochure from a German Style 37, I suspect that your model is "similar" in design (more curved grill on the side) and would use a "similar" hood ornament???

That is exactly like my car! but its not a matford, a matford one will fit my car but if it can be got.
I for some reason am not allowed to post up pictures, maybe its because am a new member.

that would fit my car I reckon, i did buy a 1937 one and it don't fit, curve is wrong and its not big enough to cover the holes on the bonnet.

Tom,All I did was Google 36 MatFord ornament and up came a bunch of references.You need to reduce the size of your pics,your format is to large.800X600 usually works well

62 was a British Ford model slightly smaller than US 68 but not really small like Anglia. It was designed solely for use with 60 engine and was made in several European Models as seen above, with a mix of Ford an Zephyr styling notes.
The basic 62 was chosen by British army for use as staff car and station wagon with engine replaced by the British version of the 1937 type 221. These things had fat tires, raised suspension, and a simplified grill area with a primitive military look.
After the war the 221 version went back to normal height and got a grill that looked rather like a Prefect...this was the Pilot, which had fancy stuff like built in jacks.

Yes the "American" 37 Winged hood ornament also appears to be shorter, stubby-er, and the overall body is not the same shape (based on pictures of the German, English & French pictures I have). Sorry I have NO suggestions for you as I said finding what you need over here is just as hard of a find as your finding it there!!! I would try and see if anyone is going to RetroMobile in France in late Jan/early Feb (you can check on line for the dares) or it may be worth a trip to Paris for you to go!!! Beyond that, maybe one of our Scandinavian friends here on the barn may be able to scare one up????

The US version of the 37 "winged" hood ornament, there is an add here on the swap meet side from 5/6/2017 for one right now, give it a look see???

Hi Tom. What happened to the bonnet handle/emblem showing in pics of your car? I've got the remains of the same car....mine was so bad I shovelled the remains of the chassis into bags as it crumbled into rust. I'm currently turning mine into a two door convertible using 36 coupe rear quarters I found in USA.

I don't know how many 62s were sold but it's years since i saw one. Stuart Wade, president of UK chapter of the Early V8 Club, has one, he's the man to try. I dig out his contact details & PM you.
