1947 1 ton pickup front brakes Hi guys , can anyone tell me if the front brake backing plates with the adjustments on the base of the shoes give any better braking performance than the plates with the shoes fixed at the bottom on a 1947 1ton pickup ??? I have both setups , just wondering which way to go.

Re: 1947 1 ton pickup front brakes The bendix type brakes with the floating shoes work better than the Lockheed type if that's what your asking. Search this forum for information on both types.
Post some pictures of your truck it sounds interesting. |
Re: 1947 1 ton pickup front brakes Ok , I realize now i have Lockheed brakes , so what I want to know is are the better brakes the ones with the cam adjustment at the bottom of the shoe or the fixed pins. And how do I post photos of my truck?

Re: 1947 1 ton pickup front brakes best in my opinion is adjustable pins, easiest to set up are the fixed pins-but these require a "fitting/running in" scenario to make them work. newer floating shoes do work the best
