Chevy/8BA distributors

The demand for sbc distributors converted for use in 8BA flatheads

remains surprisingly strong. For anyone contemplating one of mine I wanted
to refresh where I'm at......I'll need a good core Chevy distributor iron
or aluminum from '57 to '65 that features the adjusting 'window' in the

cap. Inspect the core carefully to be sure the shaft and bushings are in good shape and all small parts are there. The core you send will be the distributor

shipped back to you.

All mechanical advance....................................$290 sh incl'd
Mech adv with add'l 8* vacuum can..................$315 sh incl'd
Either type feature new NAPA points, cond, cap and rotor. Set up with 20*

mech adv with an adjustable stop for full mech , tunable without removal
from the motor.
The core must be Delco....the off shore repop casting quality is worse
than horrible.
No big deal but I've a put little into tooling so now I'm able to build
these one or two at a time and not collect 30 orders.

Well I read what you said about the core. We are currently out of the country till june. I would like one of your modified distributors. However I have no way to obtain a core, were in Mexico.
So if there is anyway you can find or buy one I would of course pay the difference.
If not I understand. Will pursue when we return.
Just had a thought, I may be in an unchartered territory for finding cores haha.

Hi there, found one, will ship it to you when I get it. Ebay, shipped to my sister and then will forward to you. If I have a petronix 6volt positive ground new should I ship that also?

Deming,
Ship the Pert at your convenience. Be sure you get the Pert that reads the breaker cam, that does away with the reluctor ring. Take the time to discuss the correct coil to use with the Pert tech guy. There is a Pert that has a rev limiter feature....I think it is Pert #3...... in my opinion this is un-needed.

Charlie, is thru ‘65 a typo? Or is there something about ‘66 and up points distributors that is different? I expected your post to say thru ‘73 or so. Just curious.

Ham,
It's a typo. As long as the Chevy dist core is not HEI and has a the window cap
we're good to go. I think my mistake was Delco went to alum from iron in '65 or there
abouts.
Thanks,
Charlie

The small body GM distributors go up to 1974.....
The one Charlie did for me was originally out of 1974 truck with a 350.

In '74, Chevy had HEI in passenger cars and Corvette, but trucks still had the smaller window caps and points.
