Warford underdrive Hello, new to the Ford Barn. I salvage used parts from a local scrap yard. I found something interesting a while back. It is a Warford Underdrive. Last paten date of 1926. What was the most interesting thing about is that it is stamped CHEV with 4 numbers in the rectangular area above the data plate. and was attached to a 4 speed Chevrolet transmission. I always thought that Warford's were only made Ford's? I would add pictures but it would not let me. Must be to new to be allowed to add pictures.

Re: Warford underdrive 2 Attachment(s)
Here are a couple of drawings, one for Chevy and one for Dodge.

Re: Warford underdrive There were a number of gear manufacturer's that made underdrive and overdrive auxiliary transmissions. They were made for any vehicle that might need them. Generally they were for trucks but they could be useful for other motor vehicles as well depending on necessity. Ruckstell, Warford, Muncie, and Brown Lipe just to name a few. As soon as any vehicle became popular, aftermarket companies jumped right in there to make accessories for them.

Re: Warford underdrive Thank you, good to clear that up.

Re: Warford underdrive Interesting, the second pictures says it was for National Guard and CCC. I was told the 4 speed this was bolted to was a 1943. Pretty much says it was National Guard, but not 100% certain.

Re: Warford underdrive Do you have the second picture? If so, do you know what it came out of? Is it dated?

Re: Warford underdrive You have to go "advanced" to upload photographs (jpg files). Manage attachments in additional options is where you attach the files. Files have to be small enough for the site so large ones may have to be down sized.
