shipping fenders I bought 2 rear fenders from a seller in Michigan and he said he can't do any better packaging them but the length has gone into freight, I can't find any information in the search; does anyone know of a way to ship these reasonably; also I remember seeing one over air freight does anyone have any information on them. Thanks for any help, Bob

Re: shipping fenders Ideas:
See if anyone is traveling from the shippers area to yours and might be willing to relay them to you. Try Greyhound shipping |
Re: shipping fenders GREYHOUND
Check with your local. I sent a cowl from Florida to California, and it was the cheapest. Pack them well!!! Make sure the shipper gives them your phone number as they don't deliver, you have to pick them up. |
Re: shipping fenders Greyhound Buslines !Usually beats everyone price wise and gets them there quite fast!Only drawback is sometimes people have no Greyhound depot nearby. They have a website where you can get quotes.Just make sure packaging is solid !Hope this helps!

Re: shipping fenders Just got a tank from CA to OH on Grayhound took 10 days, they are about the lowest cost, had to pick up at the terminal, tracking was not always correct. Check out their package express web site for weight and size limits. No damage.

Re: shipping fenders I got a pair of FRONT fenders shipped to Chicago from California for about $150 for the pair.
Covered the edges with foam pipe wrap tubes and wrapped bubblewrap over everything. |
Re: shipping fenders I have shipped fenders and doors on Greyhound . on fenders I will put a short block of wood in the middle of the opening with a screw through one of the mounting holes on the backside . then I make a carry handle out of twine on the top of it so there less likely to toss it around . .duct tape all the edges so there are no sharp corners that could rip another piece of luggage. . Massachusetts to Oregon ,39 truck door was 60 bucks. the guy on the shipping end has to do some leg work . only certain stations ship an receive . its called Greyhound Package Express . 617 526 1842 is the Boston connection . Good luck A Bone . hope the guys willing to help you out

Re: shipping fenders Greyhound is probably the cheapest. Worked for me.
Fastenal has a shipping service but requires everything on a pallet. Heard of folks shipping truck cabs that way cheaper than regular freight. |
Re: shipping fenders I shipped two doors out of the Boston area to Atlanta and it cost $100. Several terminals that were not Greyhound but somehow associated with Greyhound would not take the package if it weighed more than 50 pounds. Mine were 52 pounds, darn. I had to go to a real Greyhound terminal. Be aware of that little detail.

Re: shipping fenders You might also want to try Fasteners for your shipping. There is a drawback as the shipper will have to deliver to their store and then receiver will have to pick up at their local store. So if no fasteners in your town you are SOL or be willing to travel. I had a mower deck off of a tractor shipped to me from St Louis to Spokane, WA and the cost was less then a third of a local common carrier.

Re: shipping fenders The Fastenal locations near me will not accept sheetmetal for shipment. May be true elsewhere as well.
|
Re: shipping fenders Try Forward Air and see if they fly to an airport near you.
|
Re: shipping fenders Greyhound has worked for me shipping fenders, seats, etc. Helps to have a Greyhound terminal near you and the receiver.
|
Re: shipping fenders Had a fender shipped from Maine to Connecticut by Greyhound. Make certain to have the shipper use Sharpie to put the buyers Name, address and phone number on the sheet metal. Helps to have depot within driving distance.
Good luck, Bruce/CT |

Re: shipping fenders I used to use Greyhound. Beware their insurance only goes to $300.. Learned this the hard way when they "lost" a set of NOS 38 Ford fenders

Re: shipping fenders List your location and perhaps someone might be traveling that way. I'm heading to Kansas with my family in a few weeks, if I new where you lived and it was along the way I might be willing to help.
