Drain and filler plug removal

I cannot remove drain and filler plugs from differential.
I'm using 3/8 ratchet and they won't budge. Left to loosen/right to tighten.
Any hints to loosen them?

Thanks!

You could use a 3/8" to 1/2" adapter and use a 1/2" drive 16" long ratchet . Marv

Put a piece of pipe over the ratchet handle to get more leverage. I just had to do that on my tranny drain plug.

Use a bit of heat, I start with the propane torch...

For the original fill and drain plugs the 3/8 ratchet is not the proper tool, use the Ford adjustable wrench it has the square tang built onto the handle end, then use a large crescent wrench on the flat sides of the wrench handle. I have gone as far as using a 2 foot long pipe wrench on the exposed threads and then replacing the plug with one from Roy.

I found a length of 7/16" square key stock that I can use with an eight point socket and what ever it takes to turn it.
