1931 Pickup Build

Hi All, in process of assembling my late 31 pickup and hoping someone has some pictures or build thread of theirs they can share. At the moment I am installing wiring harness with column mounted turnsignal switch and unsure how the wiring should look or be fastened. How does main harness enter cab to connect with turn signal switch? Anyone have any pics or a thread to share so I can see how it should be done?

Thanks and appreciate any input.

Brian

Hey Brian, there is no such thing as to 'how it should look' simply because the term "should look" refers more to how it was originally. Since it did not come with turn signals originally, the modification really just needs to meet your desires. In the perfect world, the wires will probably need to enter the cabin over-top of the steering column tube and the turn signal lever will need to be located on the tube in a location that doesn't interfere with your left knee, and in a location that is easy for you to reach with your left hand to activate the switch.

Here are a couple of photos of my 31 PU. You can see the mount on the steering column. The flasher is mounted behind the drivers kick panel with the wiring going down and out into the engine compartment. From there the wires go up the column to the signal unit and down to the battery. In the second photo you can see the wire with the fuse just below the column going over to the ground on the starter.
Sorry for the dark pictures.

Re: 1931 Pickup Build

I bought some plastic wire loom from NAPA for my car and routed the turn signal wiring between the gas tank and left kick panel. It works well for me.
