Engine Compartment Light

3 Attachment(s)
While waiting for service on my GL at the Merecedes, I noticed in their showroom a 1930 Roadster that was traded in. In the engine compartment I saw an aftermarket engine compartment light. It has a push button on-off switch. I have never seen one of these and thought others would enjoy the attached pictures. (Sorry I took these photos on my phone and am sending this through my phone and I can't correct the image orientation).

I have corrected the orientation and added one more picture.

Hey Grier,
Thanks for sharing !
Even up side down, it is clear which vehicle has the class and gets immediate attention in that show room, eh :)

Does it matter which way you hold the phone, or does the phone just randomly decide how to orientate the photo?

Re: Engine Compartment Light

What I have learned phones put what is called an exif data file on the picture to instruct software how to orient the picture. This is basically a shortcut that cell phones use. Most blogs or forums have updated their software to recognize this file. I guess the Ford Barn hasn't done this yet. Once I get home I will try to correct this on my computer and edit the posting.

Did you happen to notice where the switch was for that light? Engine compartment or passenger compartment..or if there was a switch..?

Good work on the pictures!

Re: Engine Compartment Light

Yes I did. If you can zoom in on the photo you can see a push button under the flexible conduit. I actually pushed it in and on. Click in and on. Click out and off. The light looked like maybe 7 candle power. Similar to a dim night light but you can see the bulb is small and round.

Re: Engine Compartment Light

If the light is running off the car battery it's liable to be dim! Who knows if they ever start or charge it...

It would be interesting to know if it was an accessory or something someone adapted.

I also liked the guys auxiliary fuel 'cut-off' switch.

If someone where creative enough to market the engine light, I am sure it would sell well. Put me in for two.

Old Pontiacs had a pop off hood light that would reel out far enough to change a REAR tire!!!

Bill:
I use LED license plate lights under the hood and the Pontiac roll up lights in the rumble seat with a toggle switch instead of the original mercury switch.
All these lights are switched off of the tail light wire so they cannot be left on by accident.

I've seen lights like that on eBay more than once. Sure is neat, but I don't like drilling holes in my cars to mount things.:( The trick is to make up what I call a genuine Bob-o adapt-o bracket and use existing holes.;)
