Ford Barn intro 4 Attachment(s)
Hi Guys,
Since I've already had awesome help here in my first few days, and those good folk obviously requested pics, I thought I would tie it all in to one intro thread. I am Mark in Japan, because when I first joined the HAMB about 15 years ago, I lived in Japan. I'm actually an Aussie, from Melbourne. I've had an unfinished 52 F1 for over 20 years - it has a full chassis, 351C/FMX/9" etc, etc.... I recently got a call from a good friend saying that I just HAD TO come check out what was being unloaded from a shipping container out the back of his Car Audio pantheon..... Well, in less than a day I was the proud new owner of the following; |
Re: Ford Barn intro Now as stated, my other 52 F1 satisfies all of my hot rod/muscle aspirations.
THIS F1 is so original that it has inspired me to feed all of those traditional type aspirations instead. This has a stock flathead, hogshead, truck non-synchro 4 speed, stock diff (3.92 ??), etc. It is 6V running on crumble off insulation wiring. All brake linings were removed for import to Australia - apparently standard practise to avoid importing any asbestos, which is illegal. So.....my thoughts at the moment; Wiring Modern rewire the 6v stock wires (there's only about 15 of them any way!) and cover with stretch black cloth sheathing to appear less modern. Droppage Already booked in with Sid for a 3 inch dropped Brakes underfloor booster, M/C & disc brake conversion form CPP already ordered. Top Speed Already ordered an adaptor plate to allow me to bolt up a Ford T5 (as used in Aussie Ford Falcons). Hopefully get all this achieved by around Christmas (summer here...). |

Re: Ford Barn intro Welcome to the Barn Mark. Great F1, look forward to seeing you progress with it.

Re: Ford Barn intro Welcome Mark. You have a fine looking truck that deserves to stay mostly stock. Thanks for sharing and I'll enjoy watching your progress.

Re: Ford Barn intro Hello Mark. You can get the original type wiring harness from Michael Driskell at Third Gen Automotive. Wiring this gem will be a snap.

Re: Ford Barn intro Another source for original 6 volt wiring is YnZ. https://www.ynzyesterdaysparts.com/
They can modify their looms if needed to your specs. If you plan on converting to 12 volts I used a Rebel Kit to rewire my '39 p/u when I converted it to 12 volts. Easy install. I've been told they have great tech support but I didn't need to use it. Hope you have better luck with CPP than I did with a defective brake light switch. |
Re: Ford Barn intro Welcome !!!....Nice truck !!!!......Great patina!!!!....and dual side mounts!!!!.....Mark

Re: Ford Barn intro Welcome... great patina and exciting project! I'm looking forward to viewing your progress. I have a stock 1951 F1 and I'm happy to read you're keeping yours stock as well.

Re: Ford Barn intro Great truck now in the "West Island". Try Vintage Wiring Harness in your own country for wiring. They did me my 48 loom.

Thanks for a GREAT recommendation. Only 15 minutes up the road from me, and yet I'd never heard of them before! I'll be giving them a visit. |
Re: Ford Barn intro I'm with the rest of them. Looks like a nice project and don't over do it. They are a great truck. The 4 speed crash box is actually silky smooth when you get the feel of it. Two thumbs up from Orcas Island!

Re: Ford Barn intro Welcome Mark, beautiful truck! I agree, it needs to stay close to stock.
