Fender welting 1 Attachment(s)
Is there fender welting between the running board apron and the front fender on a 30 coupe? The running boards are original (one piece apron/running boards). I don't remember seeing anything about this in the judging standards.

Re: Fender welting The original question was about welt between the fender and the splash apron. I believe it goes at the rear, what a out the front?

Re: Fender welting Bill in SoCal: The answer to your question is on page 13-10 of the "Restoration Guidelines & Judging Standards" 2016 revisions.
"A 1/8" diameter welting was used only on the 1930 fender (with the front part of the splash shield integral with the fender), and was installed only at the joint in the shield. This welting was the same size as the gas tank welting (smaller than the fender welting)." The above mentioned welting does not continue to the joint between the rear end of the front fender and the running board. It is only between the joint of the 1930 splash shields. For lack of a better term, the part of the splash shield on the 1930 front fender is commonly referred to as the "nose piece splash shield". The welt is between the "nose piece" shield and the running board splash shield. |
