Turn Signal Indicator Lamp
 

This shows my new pilot light. I bent some aluminum strip I had to clear the obstruction behind the dash rail and bored holes for the mounting bolt and lamp body. For some reason, it stays on with the switch in the middle position, but flashes nicely when needed. The lamp is https://www.allelectronics.com/item/...y-green/1.html (works on 6v). The freight is more than the item itself, but overall doesn't break the bank.

I don't know the cause but my turn signal does the same thing, and it is a standard unit mounted to the steering column.

Some Signal-stats are packed full of grease and for some reason sometimes the electrons will bleed thru until most of the grease is cleaned out.

The attached document is how I installed my turn signals. The turn light indicators both come on when the brakes are applied. Since I ran the two wires direct from the rear brake lights it tells me the lights are actually working. The brake lights are LED's not likely to be burned out.

Mine is a Signal Stat also, running on 6 volts. The pilot light is on the stalk. When I wired it correctly using the P spade from the flasher, the light is off when it should be, and flashes when it should. However, when i added a beeper which requires very little juice to the the same P circuit, it beeped constantly in the off position of the stalk. So juice is running thru all of the time, although not enough to light the light.

To solve the problem, i wired the beeper, and signal light into a left and right outside flasher wire, using 2 diodes so the juice wouldn't cross over. It works, but it's kind of annoying to have all of the extra connections. If anyone knows a simpler way, I'd like to hear about it.

I had this problem and solved it by using a different flasher. I have no idea why one worked correctly and one left the light on. I had several used 3 prong flashers in the drawer and just tried a few until I got one that worked right.

I tried 2 different 3 pronged flashers. Maybe not enough tries. But even though the light was out, when the beeper was added, it showed some current was still sneaking thru, even though not enough to light the light.

Maybe diodes to keep the current from the left circuit from going to the right circuit (and vice versa)?

Thanks Bruce, I meant diodes and said resistors. I corrected the post. I had to use diodes to keep the circuits separate.

For which issue ?

The LEDs do require more load like higher CP front or cowl lights to fire the thermal flasher correctly. As far as I know, whatever some folks say, I know of no electronic flasher unit that works on 6v even though they are a couple that claim to work.

We have 12volt rear led's and turns in the cowl lights. The electronic flasher sold by vendors wouldn't work so went back to conventional 3 prong flasher and no beep signal. All grounds good and system finally works.

I bought a couple of these, one worked on 6V, the other didn't, so they sent a repacement that works.

I kept forgetting to cancel the blinker so I added a beeper to my Signal Stat. Sucker was so loud and annoying that I wrapped it in a small cloth bag and taped it shut.
It was an efficient and pleasant solution :)

Wire your beeper and indicator light across the normally closed flasher terminals. Won't work with LED turn signals but will for all regular bulbs.

There used to be a variable load flasher, that looked like a CIGAR, with wires on each end. It was "supposed" to work on "ANYTHING"!!!

Bruce, my "hidden" indicator light. I drilled hole thru the center of one of my dash rail screws and inserted a 3mm green LED. (looks white in picture?).
