There's a gutter there but no seal (at least not on mine). Just take it easy with the hose

Drill a hole in the rumble seat floor to let the water drain out.

It would probably easier to use a wet/dry vacuum.

I’m sure I would have a real problem washing my roadster, especially since I don’t have side curtains. The previous owner told me it was newly restored when he bought it and he never washed it in the twenty years that he owned it. I’ve used the waterless wash a couple of times mostly on the hood and fenders. I keep a car cover from California Car Covers And their duster so it stay very clean.

Our 1929 Sport Coupe, in 40 years never out side over night, never in the rain, and never washed. Just kept clean.

I don’t think that back in the day they were thinking about a car lasting very long. 90 years???

Enjoy.

Could be the rear window seal rubber is dry and water is tracing itself to the rumble area. It will seep undetected, all the time making the wood softer and carpeted or upholstered area damp and moldy.

This is for a '36, but I am sure you can come up with a similar idea, I wire brushed the rusty floor, then put on some heavy undercoating. Next I got a large sheet of aluminum and bent it to fit the area. I also added an aluminum back panel, not sure how the '30 is, but the '36 has a large open area that the water goes in and causes rust down by the bumper. There are more details but they are probably unrelated to the '30. Some day I hope to put an article together for the V8 Times on how I did all of this water proofing.
