Question: Apparently one day only ?? In general, how would you define "early" Ford ?? Interested in items suitable to 1946-1948 Fords and I'm about 3-1/2 hours away.

Early Ford? Anything flathead to 1953.
It's a crapshoot as to whether you will find anything you are looking for, just a matter of if you are willing to spend the time and money for something you may have purchased online or elsewhere for less effort and money.

With all due respect to swap meet vendors (I have been a vendor many times myself) Can someone please explain why vendors start packing up before noon? I could never understand why someone would spend time and effort to select what they are going to sell, pack it up, drive over to the meet, put it out only to pack it all up less than 4 hrs. later. What's the rush? I always made my best and highest sales right at the end( I'm usually the last vendor to leave). I think giving folks a chance to get there would help. Especially on Sunday when folks go to Church and then have to travel a bit. No offense to any vendor as I said I've been there. We're going to Fitchburg and it's 2.5 hrs away. We are staying over night on Saturday because we don't want to be on the road by 5AM. only to be on our way home at 11:30. Sorry for the rant but it just never made sense to me to close up before lunch on a one day meet. Thanks ....see ya at Fitchburg..........EARLY !!!

Sounds like the best weather in years.
Part of the reason for short hours in the past was probably
the cold damp weather.

Guys, never been but want to go. Can you fly in or do they close the airport for the meet?

Tim,
The main runway is still open for business. They close an alternate runway for the day where the show cars are parked and the vendors setup in the adjacent grass area.
Should be a good day.

It's like gasoline alley at Hershey. The vendors say that they have sold about 90% of their stuff on setup day, so they bail out around noon on opeinng day. The early bird gets the worm. Some churches have services on Saturday afternoons especially for swap meeters.

So will there be a line until 8am, or are people allowed in early? I am a fan of getting up at 5 or six as long as I am not missing out, but I don't know if I would get in...

Re: Early Ford V8 swapmeet at Fitchburg ,Mass

Ben, the line forms on Crawford Street at the gate about 5:30AM, and the gates open around 6:00AM If you get there at 8:00AM you may have a long wait getting in. Stop by 113 and say hi. Right next to the main drag, at the start of the parking area. Russ

Dick K in 175-176 says he bringing a matched S/W wings speedo & tach. What are you all bringing, and where are you ?

Re: Early Ford V8 swapmeet at Fitchburg ,Mass

From me it's about 7 hours on the road for a 6 hour or less swap meet. It's well organized and we'll run. No yard sale junk. It's run by the early ford club but the parts may be from most anything. Usually a good supply of hot rod stuff. I'm not going this year as I'm pulling an engine Sunday morning......
