Re: Distributor

There is a set screw and locking nut below the distributor near the top of the intake manifold. Set screw snug, then tighten jam nut.

Re: Distributor

Possibly. It also isn't good for the bushings.

Re: Distributor

Make sure the pin at the base of the distributor is firmly seated in the head.

Re: Distributor

Like Rocket1 said, there is a locating pin.

Re: Distributor

Like Chuck said tighten the set screw snug, not tight and hold it with a screw driver so the lock nut does not tighten it further. Too tight an the distributor can get distorted and the bushing will . Seize. Brattons catalog has this information. a friend locked up his distributor.

Best to error on the loose side, the pin will hold it.

How much play? I recently rebuilt my distributor and NO play after the reinstall, I replaced the locating pin and cleaned some paint out of the head hole for the pin so it would go in.

The set screw should only keep the distributor down and not from turning IMO
