Re: ace haulage i've bought a few cars off the internet. even with lots of photos and long conversations, they are never 100% of what you thought you bought. i've never been burned so bad i wish the deal hadnt happend, but many have. just lucky maybe. keep in mind things always look better in pictures, and basic car salesman theory is never volunteer any bad information, only answer questions

Re: ace haulage Sir,
I never counted, but I probably transport 100 classic, hot rod, exotic vehicles per year & 90% of them are bought sight unseen & very rarely is the buyer very mad about the vehicle. There is always a difference between what you consider nice & what others consider nice. You normally only hear about the few times someone got screwed. If it makes you more comfortable have someone inspect it for you before you purchase it. You may find someone on here that lives close that may do it for you or there are services you can pay to do it for you. God Bless & Best of Luck Bill Squires(owner) Bill's Auto Works |
Re: ace haulage Something about this that makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck. Have you at least seen pictures? I wouldn't buy anything without checking it out in person. Photography is my second hobby after cars and I know what can be hidden with the camera. Any chance we could get a little more information? It sounds like Ace Haulage is just a transporter. Can you check the real seller out in the archives here and at HAMB? Of course if the total cost is less than $100 go ahead and take a fling knowing you might lose.

Re: ace haulage Did it once based on pictures only, and as others have said I was a little disappointed. Not that it was a "bad" car, but I probably would have offered a lot less for what I got.
Never again. |
Re: ace haulage I bought a 28 Ford roadster pickup a few years back sight unseen. Turned out it was a pretty good truck. The guy selling the car didn't restore it, his "uncle" did so he didn't know squat about the truck. A few things the seller didn't mention. One was that the driver's door was cracked by the door latch where they usually crack so the door needed repair and repainting. The other was that it didn't have the proper 1/2 shaft starter, it had the later model 5/8 shaft starter and when going down the road the starter never disengaged. I had to round up the proper starter for it. I probably paid a little too much. Oh well, live and learn.

Re: ace haulage Do you know that the number on the frame matches the number on the title? Maybe request a picture.

Re: ace haulage I have not bought the car. Too many flags were flapping. I was wondering if anyone had used them.I am trying to get the address to view the car and go from there. You all seem to have similar flags raised as I do, and thank for your advice. Motor on!
