Need a brace - 8BA to BH

1 Attachment(s)
My truck has an 8BA/EAB Car engine in it, with an oil pan that has the three studs on the pan. I am lacking the bracket or brace that goes from the three studs to the bellhousing. I only have Truck parts books, so I don't have a way to confirm this p/n, but I believe it is 8CM-6825. I realize that is a Merc part number, but I believe I have the Merc oil pan (below). It has the internal tray.

Does anyone have a spare of this piece they would want to part with? Is that the correct P/N?

According to my Merc manual that is the correct part number. Part is listed as: Bracket assy (oil pan)-rear for 1949-51 Mercury. Also listed with part number is: Bolt (Hex Hd)-
5/16"-24 x 3/4" - brkt. to flywheel housing cover assy.

You could make one without too much trouble, I think. Flat piece of steel with a 90 degree bend, kind of like an angle iron bend with a shape to fit the oil pan that you can see in the photos. Click on photo to enlarge.

Ross,
I don't have a spare one to sell, but there is a complete '49-'50 Merc plate now for sale on E--y.

Thanks guys! Looking at that one on auction answers one question; the holes for the studs are slotted. I would have made one myself but I thought they would be pretty tight tolerance. Seeing that, I probably will just make one unless someone has one loose. I don't want to get into swapping the starter plate, due to my Truck/Car combination.

Not sure what you mean. If your using the stamped or cast 3" 1/2 bell, you need the correct starter plate for your Merc oil pan, with the angled brace. If you're using a full size cast iron '51-'53 Merc/'52-3 Ford bell, you don't need the brace.

I have the Truck 1/2 bell (cast iron). The starter plate appears to be the one for the Truck pan, as it has the indent to clear the truck's added aluminum seal retainer.

I'm not sure what difference the starter plate would make, since the brace attaches to it at the rim of the BH, where all plates are essentially the same.
