46 light switch

Ok, having problem keeping light switch knob from popping out of switch assembly. I insert, then give swift push inward. Latches but not securely. Pulls out of switch body when going to headlight position. What is correct way of inserting this into switch body???

I've had better luck inserting and seating the shaft before turning on the mounting nut.
