Upholstery instructions 1 Attachment(s)
By any chance does anyone have a copy of the old LeBaron Bonney upholstery instructions for a 1929 Business Coupe? I'm particularly interested in how the top installation is done both inside as well as outside.
Thanks in advance for any help! |
Re: Upholstery instructions The MAFCA coupe book has the sport coupe top information and it's probably the same.

Re: Upholstery instructions It is very much similar to the sport coupe with the exception of the way the aft upper bow is fitted with the special frame structure that fits the oval windows for 1929. I don't think the back light was made to be on a movable flap like the sport coupe was and different top materials were generally used instead of the rubberised whipcord as was used on early sport coupes till leatherettes or faux leather came into vogue. The business coupes usually had a trunk lid instead of a rumble seat deck and a lot of them had a plain black top. The difficulty level for trimming out these tops are high but not impossible. Wood and cardboards are covered with cloth on the inside to get a good interior trim level. If Cartouche, Classtique, or other outfits still make kits then any one of them should have instructions.
You might take a look at B Terry's web site. There are restoration photos of a 1929 oval window business coupe on there. |
