Oil Drips
 

I've got a 30 Fordor on the way. Never owned an A before. How do these things 'normally' drip fluids ? How many drip pans do I need under my parking space ?

I use four 18" x 26" cookie sheets under my coupe, they work perfectly and my wife didn't notice them missing for a couple months!!!

I replaced the engine in mine with a new one from Bert's. That leak is taken care of, but the Mitchell tranny, Overdrive and the rear end all leak. I put cardboard from the tranny all the way to the back bumper.

I have used old carpet cut to 30 in wide. When working on something messy under the car in the driveway I use a moving blanket from Harbor Freight. It soaks it up and I can lay on it.

I'm not saying drain the oil on it, just catch drips and slops.

I live in Pompano Beach. We have an active club. We can help you. We would like you to be a part of our club. I was told, if it does not leak oil, there's likely no oil in it.

I use one 47" L x 25" W under the engine and transmission and a piece of cardboard under the rear axle/differential that doesn't leak.
I have 4 of them 47" L x 25" W pans (available from NAPA) that I use for different vehicles.

Model A's do not drip oil, they simply mark their territory. I use a couple of pieces of cardboard about 24" by 48" under the engine and tranny and a oil changing pan under the differential. Most of the Model A's when they were produced if kept inside were in garages that had dirt or gravel floors so why worry about drips. With modern garage floors that are concrete or painted concrete every drip shows.

I use old bed pans, for some reason it seems appropriate.

I use a plastic wrapping paper storage thingy lined with newspaper. Extends from the engine oil drain back to the universal.

My differential does not leak... I guess I need to check the level ?!?!?!?!?!?

No pans needed under my cars and all the fluids ARE full.. If you need a pan then one or more things needs attention, it's not normal to have leaks

Some cars leak more than others. Those with newer restorations will naturally leak less or none at all. I would guess my car was restored about 15 years ago... It leaks very little but if I had my engine rebuilt I would expect no oil drips.

Vermin hasn't leaked a DROP, in 2 years! "Someday" I'll finish & fire him off!

All three of our collectors sit over rubber backed bathmats. Only the 57 Chev needs a diaper.

Old braided oval rugs work SUPER & last a long time. They're VERY ABSORBENT & look very DECORATIVE!
