engine noise I have a clanking noise and have not been able to pinpoint where it's at, several guys in the model A club have tried to but to no avail. One thing that should help out is when ground out the second spark plug the noise seems to quiet down. Any suggestions where to look or what this could be? Thank you,

Re: engine noise i think you may have found it #2 piston, wrist pin, rod, crank journal or babbit problem.
by stopping that cylinder from combusting the pressure on all mentioned components is reduced thus less noise.. |
Re: engine noise Thanks Mitch, DOES MOTOR NEED TO BE PULLED TO MAKE THE REPAIRS?

Re: engine noise You realy dont need to pull the motor. If its somthing with cyleder two pull the head, pop off the Oil pan disconet the pistint arm from the crank and puch it up thou the top its probbily right were you pistint meats the arm in the wrist pin. Replace the pin and watever elce is worn on it and slide itback down (just dont replace the rings on the pistin other wise they will be uneven were causeing the engen to be out of balence
