Mr. Allen Swift (Springfield, MA.) received this 1928 Rolls-Royce Piccadilly P1 Roadster from his father, brand new - as a graduation gift in 1928. He drove it up until his death last year.....at the age of 102 !!! He was the oldest living owner of a car from new. Just thought you'd like to see it. He donated it to a Springfield museum after his death. It has 170,000 miles on it, still runs like a Swiss watch, dead silent at any speed and is in perfect cosmetic condition. (82 years)

Now that is neat. I wonder if it was built in Springfield. There used to be a Rolls assembly plant there about that time.

Yes it was built in Springfield. It's displayed in the Springfield Museum, I saw it there in the Spring. Very nice museum I might add, including many early Indian motorcycles that were also built in the Springfield area.

I guess I'll have to live to 143, to beat that record. Something to look forward to I guess...

I had the great privilege to meet Mr. Swift's son-in-law ( brother of a local friend) about 15 years ago, and take a ride in son-in-law's 1928 Rolls Phantom I touring car, built at Springfield, Mass, for one of the Baldwin boys of the Baldwin Locomtive Works (Philadelphia).

Ernie told me about his father-in-law, the Graduation Rolls, etc.

Glad to see Mr Swift's car is in a good place !
