1949 Mercury 2x2 linkage carb set up ?

1 Attachment(s)
Need help, I bought this 2x2 carb set up as a bolt on, all good, except when I attach the gas pedal rod ball to the the linkage shaft it push in the wrong direction(against the idle screw) need a linkage kit that will reverse the shaft, hope i am clear on my description?

I am waiting on a return call from the guy I purchased it from but figured I get a quicker response from the elders here on the barn,

Regards,

tom

You need to find a 50-51 Mercury throttle linkage they pull towards the firewall unlike a 49 merc which pushes toward the rad. ken ct.

Thank Ken, don't know if you recall, a few months ago I called you regarding rebuilding of the stock air horn/carb, decided to go this 2x2 set up, I will keep you in mind for future reference.

Your biggest, problem will be the ignition system. The dual carbs cannot run the stock distributor properly. You need to change over to a machanical/vac type to get the benefit of the dual carbs.

Get one with an adjustable Vacuum advance set to 8 degrees. If that's too much cut back to 6. Better mileage. Mechanical set to 20 Degs. Bubba's now shipping his distributors with the adj machanical adv. If you put you mind to it you should be able to get 20 plus.

Yes and I plan on running a T5 trans and the stock 3.92 rear Axel so it will live well at high way speeds Ron. Thanks for your advise and input , it is always welcomed.:D

Re: 1949 Mercury 2x2 linkage carb set up ?

Tom my mistake its NOT the linkage rod assemb.from the fire wall. Its where the rod connects at the throttle shaft on the carb. 49"s connect above the throttle shaft thus push the throttle toward the rad. All other Mercs and ford carbs connect below the shaft. The firewall rod moves the same way for both but it depends where it connects to the throttle arm.Above or Below. Sorry for the mis info. Had to think about that for a minute. ken ct.
