I have used Carpenter and Drake. The last two I did came with the frame from Trautwein.
The hardest parts is removing all the old rubber from the frame.

I have always liked Carpenter's rubber the best. My 2¢.

I tried to superglue the separated area and it held for about 2 hours. I guess the tension was too much for the glue. Do you think jb weld would hold better than superglue. It is hard to glue to rubber because as it stretches it compromises the bond.
I will buy from carpenters, thanks fot the info.

I have never tried super glue on rubber so I can't comment on that. Good luck

I have no experience with installing '34 WS gaskets, but thought I would mention that I had my best luck using windshield rubber gaskets from Bob Drake on my '35 Fords. He has the '35-'36 WS gaskets with corners molded plus the molded rubber seems to be softer, and more pliable than any other manufacturers gaskets that i have tried.

My '33 rubber gasket was a one piece if I recall. No cement or glue of any kind. I was patient with working it into the frame, fit perfect. Still in perfect condition.

the rubber that tore apart was purchased from Bob Drake. I am surprise because Dakes carries quality stuff..Maybe it was just from a bad batch.

Who installed the rubber gasket that tore apart?

My first couple attempts at installing these rubber windshield gaskets did not go well. The first one I tried, I definitely DID NOT have all the old rubber from the previous gasket completely cleaned out of the groove in frame. Then I was NOT using the best tool I could have chosen to push the rubber into the groove. Then I chose the wrong lube to use trying to make the rubber go in place, then finally I determined that I was not putting the right part of the gasket into the channel first. After much frustration, and ruining one gasket I nailed the proper installation procedure and everything worked and went together perfectly.
Unfortunately, I suspect that most folks complaining of having problems, and blaming the manufacturer's product, are actually experiencing user error.

I installed it..
I totally cleaner out the channel, checked every inch. I did not break during the installation but only after a year or so in place. I noticed the separation along the left edge!

Steele's rubber parts. Quality rubber and I believe they supply some vendors.

Did you use any chemical lubricants during the installation?

silicon spray applied into frame

Re: supplier of 1933-34 Ford Windshield Rubber

This defect was not because of the installation, that would have given a tearing during the process. everything assembled properly. The rubber gasket was in place perfectly for 1 to 2 years. Then one day when I was driving I notice the lower left portion flapping around and realized that it was disconnected from the bottom part of the gasket.
My car is not left out in the sun but is always garaged, I do almost no driving...I have to start using the car , otherwise all I have is a stationary model.

I've got 14 years on a Dennis Carpenter seal in my 32 sedan. Still looks good. I had first tried a Vintique but the glued corners broke before I could even get the thing stretched all the way around.

Two weeks ago I installed a Drake seal on my brother's 32 coupe. It is tight, but it went into place as well with no breakage.

Re: supplier of 1933-34 Ford Windshield Rubber

I have had good results with Drake and Carpenter and have used both and stock both.. Steele gets theirs from Carpenter I believe if I remember right. Vintique, I had bad luck with. I plan to use a Carpenter seal on my 36 as the drake one on it (5 years old) is starting to crack at a corner.
