Long-shot search

My Grandfather, and his brother, both lived in Polk County, NC. And both owned Model A's in their later years. My grandfather, Sam McCarter, owned a 1930 Tudor, as well as several rough Tudors that he salvaged from the immediate area. He never got around to working on those, and his 1930 was unrestored, but drivable. When he died in 1972, my Grandmother eventually sold them all in the late 1970s or early 1980s.

My Grand-uncle, Louie McCarter, had a 1930 Pickup, a daily driver in very good condition. After he died in 1990, his grandson Mark sold it sometime in the later 1990s.

Odds are they have changed owners since, but I'm curious if any Barn Folk ended up with any of these....

Thanks!

Clearly I can't help in your search but it occurs to me that title details or at least engine number would help identify your family's cars.

Synchro, that is true. But all I have is the data supplied, just the names of the owners.... The only NC title search I can find requires a VIN. This is a 'long shot search' for sure, but worth a try.

Re: Long-shot search

McMimmcs, sorry, no. Both the Tudor and Pickup were black, and the 'rough' ones were 'rust color'. Polk county is in western NC, right on the SC border, so I doubt if they left the area. If I recall, the 'rough collection' was around three 30-31s, an a single 28-29.

Re: Long-shot search

If you have a friend at the DMV, they may be able to search your relatives names for past titles/registrations. A friend at DMV or in Law Enforcement may be able to tell you the current owner. It will take “good friends” to accomplish this in most States. Privacy laws have made this difficult.

Put an ad in Craigslist.org for Charlotte and surrounding areas.

Re: Long-shot search

Craigslist has an Asheville page which will be more focused on your area than Charlotte, but post your search on both, and maybe the Greenville-Spartanburg and Knoxville pages too....
