The color of my truck has a name I bought a couple rims and wanted them powder coated to match. Took the truck to the body shop and he scanned it in 3 different places. The hex code his computer spit out is called BMW Volcanic Orange. I think this is just pure coincidence since this truck was painted back in the 70's.
So everyone I had sent messages regarding "what color is this" . . . now we know. |
Re: The color of my truck has a name When they scan, it compares that color to the nearest color in their library. So, yours picked up a BMW color as the nearest. One time I needed Washington Blue for a roadster I was restoring. The "nearest" color was actually two, a Mercedes blue and Massachusets State Police car blue. How close any library color is can vary significantly so touch-up only can be noticable.

I had a '72 Ford Econoline E-100 van back in the day that was the color of your truck (or similar). The color was "Chrome Yellow" similar to the one in the picture.

Re: The color of my truck has a name That color looks to me to be similar to the "school bus" color from the model A era. We found that the Minneapolis Moline tractor color was very close. It is called Prairie Gold, from the tractor Supply store.

Re: The color of my truck has a name No problem. You could write a song about it.

I thought it would be close to a school bus or the new Cyber Orange on the Bronco. |

Not sure how that's relevant. Just talking about color, not hot dogs unless the color was close to mustard. Then it would be. A friend called it nacho colored though, so food related. |
