Fordbarn Barn Finds...

I wonder just how many "barn finds" have been documented here on Fordbarn and just where they are now...are they still there? Being restored? Tucked away in another "barn"? Sold to hot rodders?...Hmmmmm?

Mine wasn't a barn find but a garage find. Sitting for 25 years and I get it out every chance I can.

More of a carport find then barn find.

Mine had been sitting out in the harsh Southern California sun for 20 years before I found (rescued) it.

Still finding them. The 30 pheaton tucked away in the early 50's Drive train is now rebuilt with Ford parts. 29 Roadster Pickup, parked in 55 waiting its turn. 21 T parked in 50's will get running this summer. 23TT parked in 52 in Barn...on the road now!

My 29 roadster was sitting in a backyard garage for 42 years. I hope to have the engine running by the end of this weekend.

28 business coupe had been in a dry basement garage since 1955. Owner was tragically killed in 1969. Heard about the car last summer, went to see the people, and made a deal on the spot.

I bought this little coupe out of a barn to save it from being rodded. The car was rock solid and straight as they come.I thought I was doing the right thing by trying to save it,but the best offer from A guys was about 1/3 of what the rodders were offering so it went off to be a rod.If I didn't already have four A's as it is I would have done it myself. It sold for $5000.more than the best offer from an A guy.I got exactly what I had in it.

Is that white car in the background a Jaguar kit car? It's a shame that it went to a hot rodder, but when they're willing to pay the price.

Yes,that is a Jaguar SS100 kit car. There were a couple of makers of those, that one was made in Buffalo N.Y.The quality of that brand is horrible compared to the other ones.In front of it is an MGTD kit car.Bought new in the late 70's and never even opened up.The fellow that bought it new thought it would be a nice retirement project, but when he got it he realized it was way beyond his capabilities. The guy that bought the A owns a body/rod/muscle car shop.He felt that buying a straight rust free car to begin with would save him a lot of money over paying his help to repair rust, dents, etc.

I had a kit car that was similar to that. Mine was a 1929 Mecedes SSK. Although there was little resemblance. Poorly designed, based on a VW chassis and parts are hard to find. It was a lot of fun though. Lots of guys bought the kits only to find that they were hard to build.

My 28 sport coupe was going to be a hot rod. I bought from the guy because he did'nt have time to work on it. Had a lot of parts missing. Now doing the interior. (thanks steve for your help & telling me about the fordbarn)

This 29 AA had been in the barn for 40 years before I found it. Put about a 1000 miles on it last year. Fun stuff!

My 31 pickup sat in my backyard for thirty years. Fired it up, drove it out, got it registered and turned it into a Woody. My bad!

My '30 coupe was forgotten in the back of a garage since 1964. I can't take credit for getting it running, but I understand it took little more than fresh oil, new points, and a condenser. That guy just bought it to flip it.

Once Pop and I got our hands on it, we went through the brakes, inspected and adjust the bearings, patched up a few leaks, and have now been driving it regularly for about two years.

Re: Fordbarn Barn Finds...

I recently found and bought a beautiful restoration of a 31 Deluxe two door sedan (real cheap). By evidence of the large stack of receipts that came with the car, an owner started in 1969 and apparently finished about 94. All major work was done by professional shops, i.e. engine, pressure plate/clutch, brakes, body work, paint, upholstery, etc; and many, many small parts from Little Dearborn. Apparently he drove it only 643 miles til his death. His widow just left it sitting in the garage until she decided to sell the house in 02. To "get rid of it", she sold it to a neighbor who really had no interest in old cars but just wanted to help out the widow. He then stashed it in his garage where it continued to sit until a few weeks ago when he decided he wanted the space for a workshop. I "tripped" across it and it is now in my garage. It still looks like a fresh restoration. Maybe I'll figure out how to post pictures.

Re: Fordbarn Barn Finds...

Mine was an actual barnfind. The guy parked it in 68, pulled the body off the frame and pulled the engine. There she sat til I bought it 2 years ago.
