Something = insanity .
Still, I am happily insane. :)

Guys, at my age, this is porn :)

That is very impressive, but I hope I never get as old as you.:D

You may want to rethink that. Ya know, if the gap widens in our respective ages, one of us is no longer breathing.
Me? I'd prefer the gap in ages remains exactly as it currently is.

Excellent. Unless it's proprietary info, please let us know what color, brand and type of paint you use. Thanks.

Thanks for the kind comments guys.
Ya know, I truly enjoy these projects. Not really "work", well, for the most part anyway. Occasionally I want to pull my hair out. I refrain as I figure at my age, pulled out and it ain't growing back...
I am hoping that by this evening I'll be the proud poppa of a shiny gray coupe :)

Wishing you all the best when you pull the trigger.
My 40 was orginally Folkstone Grey. Nice color.

I'll be starting soon. Never did a coupe in this color. A '40 Ford convertible and a Merc, but never a coupe.
I think it'll be a neat "change" of pace.

Mike, I see an 1/8 inch drip right below the end of the drip rail.

Just kidding! You did a beautiful job.
CONGRATULATIONS. It's gorgeous.

I over read the "just kidding" part and subsequently had a mild heart attack! Just kidding - um, about the heart attack part.
I did get two small runs in the rear quarter. I'll (carefully) get them out. Wanted to cry. Still do.
Decided to have a brandy instead.

Mike, Sorry. Didn't mean for your heart to skip a beat.

Is this how you do it? Is water borne basecoat/ clear coat hard to do?

I should have been more specific. I use their uretahane, not the water base. Three coats of color after the initial "tack' coat. I follow with a tacking of clear and three full coats. I figure one coat is lost due to wet sanding and buffing.

Love the color, in the mid 70's I had a 1/2 ton pickup that color with red pin striping. And, in light surface rust above the windshield you could see..."U.S. MAIL"

Re: Interest in new restoration project thread?

It must be nice to be able to pick which 1000 point restored '40 Ford coupe to drive just by the color!:)

In the real world, fantastic job. I can't wait to see the completed project.
