Restarting the engine

My A has a new engine, but has never been installed in the car. Was built 8 yrs. ago. It was been in my shop with every opening covered with clean rags. I’ve tried without complete success to, turn the engine over and squirt a squirt of marvel mystery oil in each cylinder once a month. It is free and turns over with great compression. It has inserts in the bottom end and a B head. My wife is and has been on me to complete putting it (the car) back together. Will the engine be fine still? Comments please

Engine should be fine. When you install the engine and add oil, remove the distributor and pour 1 quart of oil down the hole, this will put oil in the dipper tray so when you start the engine there will be oil for the rods.

It was started for me when I picked it up. Do you suppose I should drain this oil and start over again.

Robert oil is cheap maintenance ! Drain and replace the oil it's been in there 8 years.

I use my old model A oil for chainsaw bar lube, and coating garden tools to prevent rusting.
