1930 Fuel Bowl Leak

Hi All,
For some reason lately I have been experiencing a leak at the fuel line fitting fitting coming off the glass type fuel filter on my 30. When tightening the fitting it just wants to push the ferrel into the bowl rather than compress around the steel fuel line. I changed out the unit with a new one and does exactly the same thing. Do I need to revert back to a cast iron type unit?

Thanks, Steve

Re: 1930 Fuel Bowl Leak

The fuel line should no extend more than about an eighth of an inch past the ferule. If it does, the fuel line itself could be pushing into the fuel bowl and interfering with tightening the ferule.

Thanks, that seems to have done the trick. Set the fuel pipe 1/8 beyond the ferrel and leak seems to have stopped. Think I knew this and forgot at some point....
